I totally understand the way you are f...Stephanie,

I totally understand the way you are feeling. But remember that just because we feel a certain way, doesn't mean it's true. You are not a failure! Sometimes it is tough to see from the inside, but take it from "outside" eyes that have stood in that clinic and seen what you have built - you ARE touching lives, here and in eternity!

The pace of change is so incredibly slow in Sudan that it can often seem like nothing is happening, and I certainly felt the frustration of cultural, educational and language barriers in the short three months I had there. I can only imagine how it would feel after more than a year! But the truth is that God has you there for this season, and He knows what He is doing!

Last year, only 5 were coming each month. Right now, you have the opportunity to touch 20+ moms and babies each month. Each of those women goes home and tells her story, bringing a tiny new seed of awareness in her family and village. Slow and frustrating? Absolutely! But change IS happening, and by God's grace, perhaps next year 80 or more will be coming each month! Progress too slow to please our want-it-now Western culture, but it is change. Each one who delivers in the clinic, each baby who lives, each husband who sees his wife and child healthy because of birth in the clinic is making an indelible mark. Just like independence took so many, many long years, slow and steady wins the race in Sudan :-)

It is so frustrating "cleaning up" all the messes that walk through those gates. I pray for you every day, friend, and am thankful to know how to better direct those prayers for this season you are enduring. Please, please know how much I love you and the ways you pour yourself out for those women. It is not in vain - our God is too good for that!

I wish I could hop on a plane, return to Tonj, and give you a big hug! We will have to settle for "virtual" hugs for now. Please let me know any specific ways I can pray.

Love you babe!

SarahSarahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15160687625726504771noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2036860208185548803.post-12086553992176313702011-09-24T10:25:52.680-07:002011-09-24T10:25:52.680-07:001 year and a half is not long enough to grow a tre...1 year and a half is not long enough to grow a tree that bears fruit. An Avocado tree takes 4-6 years and even then the fruit isn't good for another 3 years. This will be like that for you. You are impatient Try and offer an incentive to come that you haven't thought of yet.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
